That’s awesome! Your auto insurance would only come into play as a secondary form of coverage in this case. To a certain degree your auto policy travels with you wherever you go, but your roommate’s auto insurance will be the primary source of insurance in the event of an accident while you are driving his car.
The auto insurance on the driven vehicle will protect you in case of an accident while on the road. Try to check the auto policy just to be sure you are fully protected and that the deductibles offer enough protection. Check to see if the limits on the auto policy of the vehicle fail to cover the damages you cause. Your policy may very well pick up the difference so it is also better if you review your coverage. Always feel free to call your auto insurance agent before you leave and find a way to express ALL your concerns.
Drivers on cross country excursions sometimes push themselves and drive many miles a day, which can be too tiring to bear. Make sure you have safe, good tires and get some rest if your body feels like it. Always carry your auto insurance card with you and have phone numbers for your agent and the auto insurance company just in case you will need them, you never know. Fasten those seatbelts, and always keep your hands on the wheel, eyes on the road.
